Frequently Asked
Questions

Do you take insurance?

We do not bill insurance. The only way to get these assessments done with insurance is to make an appointment with your general practitioner, have them provide an order for an imagining center, then book with the imagining center. You DO NOT need a general practitioner order, or a doctor referral to have an assessment done at Next Level / Peak Center Alaska, LLC. Appointments can frequently be made within 7 days.

How much is it?

The assessment is $199.00 for your first scan, all follow up scans are $179.00.

Why should I get an assessment?

Knowledge is power! 1-in-2 women and 1-in-4 men have osteoporosis (bone loss). More women will die from osteoporosis this year than from breast cancer and cervical cancer combined!
Thankfully, osteoporosis is a preventable disease! This condition can often be reduced, eliminated, or prevented by following healthy lifestyle guidelines. The largest controllable determinants of bone health are nutrition, physical activity, weight, smoking cessation, heavy alcohol avoidance, and prevention of falls. A DEXA scan is the medical GOLD STANDARD for non-invasive diagnostic testing and provides you with an in-depth, actionable analysis of the main components of your body; fat, muscle and bone.

What should I expect?

A DEXA scan takes about 7-minutes for imaging. The assessment measures bone density (strength) and provides helpful details about your risk for osteoporosis (bone loss) and fractures (bone breaks). You will lie on an open table, fully clothed, for a non-invasive scan.

What should I wear? How should I prepare?

While you can wear most things, we recommend something comfortable and thin, like pajamas or sweats and a t-shirt. It is very important that there are no logos, embroidery, buttons, or other thick/excessive cloth. Other than this, no "preparation" such as diet, fasting, or liquid intake is required.
